About Us

wreckFounded in 1998 in Hong Kong, SDA Marine has its office in Hong Kong and works on a wide variety of marine archaeology and underwater projects all over the world.

SDA Marine provided specialist advice to the Antiquities and Monuments Department of the Hong Kong SAR Government in drafting their guidelines and regulations for marine archaeological investigation. These draft guidelines resulted in pioneering legislation passed in 1997 that makes Marine Archaeological Investigation compulsory for any project which disturbs the seabed. This activity might include land reclamation, cable laying, pipeline installation and sewage outfall sub sea construction.

Similar guidelines and legislation are being adopted by other national governments as they seek to protect their underwater cultural heritage.
